Whilst beautiful beaches are obviously ‘the norm’ in the archipelago that makes up the Caribbean, if tropical and picturesque beaches are your thing, then consider a trip to the Caribbean island of St Lucia

From family-friendly beaches where the little ones can paddle to their heart’s content to sequestered stretches of sand where you can cuddle up with your loved one, there’s a St Lucian plage to suit all travellers.

If you love diving, you will be in clover thanks to St Lucia’s intriguing and exciting marine life – great for both experienced divers and novices alike. The island is an underwater treasure trove of wonderful dive spots, chock full of spectacular shipwrecks, colourful fish and coral reefs.

So, whether it’s watersports, beachside dining under the stars or a touch of turtle spotting, you rpal Orbzii has done the hard work for you to outline the beach beaches in St Lucia.

Jalousie Beach (Sugar Beach)

Could this sweet beach be the hit you are looking for? Jalousie Beach, also lovingly referred to as ‘Sugar Beach’, is nestled at the foot of the famous UNESCO-protected Piton Mountains on the south of the island in the village of Soufriere. It’s easy to see why it’s one of the best beaches in St. Lucia. It’s the classic daydream of impossibly white sands and calming lapping waters. Fancy a spot of snorkelling? Discover the aquatic wonderland of Sugar Beach where you can dive amidst the corals and sea fauna to spot southern stingrays, queen triggers, jaw fish and (gulp!) nurse sharks.

If you’re cooler on the water than under it, paddle out and try kayaking, paddle boarding or windsurfing. Glide on top of those clear waters as you admire the perfect views of the Gros and Petit Piton mountains.

Grande Anse Beach st lucia

Grande Anse Beach

Tucked away north-east of the island, Grand Anse beach is the epitome of unspoilt thanks to its rugged cliff tops and secluded sands. This dreamy stretch is also where the island’s leatherback turtles call home.

With its combination of stunning sands, secret coves and dramatic coastline, Grand Anse is one of the most breathtaking beaches on the island. It’s even regarded as the ‘forgotten beach’, you’ll quickly agree this spectacular beach is nothing but extraordinary.

Watersports lovers, this beach might not be your ‘one’, but if a spot of secluded sunbathing (with the obligatory turtle spotting, of course!) is more your vibe, then Grand Anse is certainly worth the drive over and it truly is one of the best beaches in St Lucia.

Orbzii Insider tip: If you’re keen to explore the soft sandy coves and meander along the rocky coastline, this is not a flip flop-friendly excursion! Wear sensible shoes as this can be quite the challenging walk, but worth it for the impressive views.

Marigot Bay Beach

Marigot Bay Beach might be small, but it certainly packs a punch when it comes to epitomising ‘idyllic’ and makes a great spot to spend a day swimming and soaking up the sun. Boats bobbing in the water, swaying palm trees and lush hills are the ideal mise-en-scène for not only a relaxing day, but this little gem has also been a filming location for many popular films. Film buffs will delight in retracing the footsteps of Dr. Doolittle in the 1967 film of the same name which was filmed in the bay – just watch out for that pesky giant pink sea snail.

Sea snails swerved, why not take a sojourn to enjoy a cocktail or two at Doolittle’s Restaurant and Bar? Soak up the beautiful scenery and ambiance as you enjoy local specialties like conch and king fish. Saturdays are one of the best times to visit and enjoy a dizzying combination of music from a steel band with a lavish seafood spread. Saturday night goals indeed!

Pigeon Island st lucia

Pigeon Island

How could we not include Pigeon Island, even for its name alone! It has a colourful history,as its proximity to the village of Gros Islet and Rodney Bay made it popular with pirates! Led by the notorious Jambe de Bois (also known by ‘Peg Leg’), they used this island to target unsuspecting Spanish ships led .

It’s easy to see why Pigeon Island is such a popular choice for visitors and even the locals. Check out the ruins of the military buildings and forts that remain and its excellent hiking trails where you can meander through lush forests – just note, some trails are easier than others, so pick wisely and wear the right shoes. Should you take the hike, you’ll be greeted with some incredible panoramic views from the top of the hill, as well as seeing both the Caribbean Sea and the Atlantic Oceanat the same time.

If digging your toes into the sand is more your thing, you have two beaches to choose from on Pigeon Island. So enjoy that leisurely dip in the warm waters or simply stretch out in the sun, we wouldn’t blame you.

Anse Cochon

Anse Cochon is the ultimate in secluded bays, where you feel that this beach is just yours. For good reason, as its gentle waters and sheltered sands are not free to use, but paying an entry fee is certainly worth it. Though if you are staying at the local resorts, the beaches are free to use.

From snorkelling and getting up close and personal to the marine life to indulging in some of the best Caribbean cuisine on the island, Anse Cochon is without a doubt one of the best beaches in St Lucia andan ideal place to take that enviable selfie to add to the ‘gram.
