New York Travel Guide

Ordinarily, parks, museums and bridges would be last on our list of recommendations, but even New York’s holiday basics are bigger, better and brasher than anywhere else’s. Yes, you can flit from one iconic film location to another or shop for big name brands, but New York really rewards those that dare to explore.

So while everyone is distracted by New York’s shiny, shiny objects, your time will be better spent admiring the forgotten architecture of abandoned buildings, rummaging around in Little Italy for THE best cannolis or simply scoffing a $5 hot dog surrounded by some of Wall Street’s flashiest financiers.

It’s not that we’re particularly averse to shinning up the Statue of Liberty, iconic as she is, there’s simply so much more to do in New York. Get tickets to a Yankees game, explore the private art collection of a New York billionaire or catch some improv comedy.

We haven’t even mentioned the Big Apple’s hidden quirks yet. New York holidays could see you searching for the city’s miniature rainforest, uncovering the secrets behind Waldorf Street’s unmarked brass door or sipping booze from a teacup in a speakeasy. Reliving the prohibition days isn’t for everyone – but in New York, your particular penchant is easily found just around the corner.
