Part of the Balearic Islands, the pretty island of Menorca is a foodie’s dream and is infinitely a more chilled-out alternative than its party-loving sister islands of Mallorca and Ibiza.

You can’t fail to fall in love with Split, the second largest city in Croatia which is a fantastic fusion of ancient history, culture and delicious food.

Be sure to carve out time to meander along the ancient alleyways of the beguiling Diocletian’s Palace which is an absolute must for fans of Game of Thrones alongside the likes of nearby Kaštel Gomilica which doubled up Braavos where the character of Arya Stark retreated to in season five.

Split is one of the standout cities when it comes to Croatia’s esteemed gastronomy scene, there’s a great selection of restaurants that cater for every palate – from family-run tavernas to bustling pizzerias, but for lovers of seafood, you will be truly spoilt for choice. 

Perhaps it’s the lemon-balmy breezes, the azure waters, the chic cobbled streets or the hotch-potch of insta-worthy confetti-hued homes clinging on the side of the craggy cliffs.

There’s no doubt that the UNESCO-listed Amalfi Coast is a picture-perfect vista and one of the top contenders when considering where to go on holiday in June. 

Whilst the Amalfi Coast is busy in June, it’s certainly less touristy than in the latter summer months and you are less likely to have to jostle for position at the likes of Positano and Ravello or at some of the most endearing attractions like the 1st-century Roman villas of Minori and Positano.

If twisting your lemon isn’t your thing, then there’s plenty of vineyards to explore along the Amalfi Coast if a glass of Italian red floats your boat.

Beverages aside, there’s oodles of hiking trails dotted throughout the region and they are not exclusive to just the spectacular coastline.

Make sure you pack your trusty hiking boots to traverse the many waterfalls, forests, valleys and mountains that are just waiting to be explored. 

Can you really say you have been to the Amalfi Coast if you haven’t taken a boat trip to the Emerald Grotto?

This verdant-hued sea cave in the craggy bay of Conca dei Marini is one of the must-see gems of the Amalfi Coast.

One of the most stunning counties in the UK, the picture-postcard perfect county of Devon is chock-full of expansive award-winning beaches, characterful villages and miles and miles of lush moorland where wild ponies roam and are made for hiking. 

Of course, Devon (and indeed its neighbouring county Cornwall) are ubiquitous with the good ole Cream tea which is a treat to definitely indulge in.

After all the baked goods fun, you will be sure to want to work it off and you can do so in abundance in Devon.

For those that love the great outdoors, you can choose from cobweb busting coastal walks or you can head over to the wild landscape of Dartmoor which is just made for hiking.

Many of these trails are dog-friendly where you and your pooch can swim and walk to your heart’s content as well as being great choices for those who want to hop on the saddle and have a ‘wheely’ good time!

If you prefer a healthy dose of H2O as opposed to being a ‘landlubber’, then there’s plenty of breakers, swells and barrels to surf, paddle board, kayak and wakeboard in.

The Swedes certainly know how to take advantage of making the most of midsummers seemingly never-ending days of summer. 

If you are in Sweden in late June, you can enjoy all the al-fresco festivities during those long hours of sunlight.

Midsummer Eve which takes place in late June is one of the most important dates in the Swedish calendar and is widely considered to be a bigger celebration for Swedes than Christmas.

You can fully expect all-day, outdoor parties that effortlessly fuse together delicacies like of pickled herring, schnapps and of course – May Pole dancing!

It’s also the time when the country’s archipelagos are at their most idyllic.

As well as Stockholm and Gothenburg, there are the green isles of east coast Östergötland, plus white beaches and windmills on southern Öland.
