A day trip from Seville will let you experience the best of what else Andalusia and beyond has to offer. Get the roadtrip playlist ready, as well as some Sevillian snacks, and let’s explore!

Cádiz

This ancient port city in the Andalucia region of southwestern Spain has to top the list of the best day trips from Seville. Not only is it a culinary dream with its superb seafood, it also has dreamy laidback vibes and great beaches. It’s also less than a 90 minute train ride from the city, making it one of the most popular day trips from Seville.

It’s Europe’s oldest settlement and was founded by the Phoenicians in around 1100 BCE. History buffs will love checking out both the San Sebastián Castle and the Cádiz Cathedral.  Enjoy far reaching views of the town by climbing the 170 steps to the top of the Torre Tavira. Originally a watchtower in the 18th century, it’s one of the best ways to enjoy panoramic views of Cádiz.

Fun fact – Cádiz stood in for Havana in James Bond: Die Another Day and is a great place to visit if you want to channel your inner Bond or Bond Girl.

day trip to ronda

Ronda

Could this be one of the most picturesque mountain-top pueblos in Spain? Ronda with its winding streets, whitewashed houses and striking churches. Ronda with its spectacular location above the El Tajo gorge. Ronda…we love you. This town has a rich and dramatic history and it’s easy to see why it is one of the most popular day trips from Seville.

A hub of creativity, the beautiful landscape of Ronda has inspired many famous artists, including Ernest Hemingway and Orson Welles. It is about 1 hour 50 minutes by car from Seville, but if you don’t fancy the drive, why not take a guided coach tour and let the experts show you around the hidden and not-so-hidden gems of Ronda.

Córdoba

Take the high-speed train to see the iconic and mesmerising Mezquita. This magnificent Moorish-era mosque is one of the world’s greatest Islamic buildings and is also home to a Christian cathedral inside.

Córdoba is home to not one, not two, but four UNESCO World Heritage Sites (including the Mezquita) as well as the Roman Bridge, the Alcázar de los Reyes Cristianos and the Palacio de Viana – a stunning and majestic Renaissance palace with pretty plant-filled patios an art museum tucked away inside.

Famous for its quaint courtyards and winding alleyways and courtyards, Córdoba is the gift that keeps on giving, especially when it comes to its culinary landscape.

From the Michelin-starred Noor, which champions Andalusi cuisine to one of the poshest food courts you will ever see – the Mercado Victoria. Here you can try an array of cuisine from Argentina to Mexico and beyond.

day trip to Aracena

Aracena

Castles, caves and carpaccio! Aracena is one of the best locations to explore the Sierra de Aracena region and is centred around both castle ruins and a church on the hill from mediaeval times.

The Gruta de las Maravillas with its bubbling streams and limestone caves is a particular highlight.   For those wanting to hike, it’s a dream come true, however there are also various tour guides available who will talk you through the rich history of the Sierra de Aracena area (including its links to smuggling!)

You can reach Aracena in just over an hour by car, making it a great option for either a full day or half a day excursion from Seville.

Jerez de la Frontera

Sherry – sherry baby! Whether The Four Seasons and Frankie Valli were talking about the wine or the girl matters not- what’s important is that you visit the capital of the ‘Sherry Triangle’, Jerez de la Frontera!

You might not know that Sherry can only be produced in three towns? And the capital of this group of three towns is Jerez itself! There are 90 bodegas (where the sherry is made) of which you can visit 50 of them. Either visit and stock up on the good stuff or why not take a tour where you can learn about how it is produced and try some of it for yourself? Cheers!

Grenada

We always love to throw in a curveball when it comes to suggesting day trips from Seville. Bear with us – we know that it’s a bit of a jaunt, but we think it’s totally worth it. Alhambra is magical and majestic in equal measure and looms over the picturesque city atop a showstopping hillside.

Sprawled at the foot of the Sierra Nevada, it is a journey of upwards of three hours, but it’s certainly worth carving out a day to explore the city and its attractive and energetic neighbourhoods.

If this doesn’t convince you, maybe the stellar street art, Granadian flamenco, beer spa and free tapas will!  Granada is enchanting and surprising and is definitely worth the road miles to get there.

Are you ready to explore Seville and beyond? The next step is to book your Seville trip via the Orbzii app which will get you booked in to visit the magic city in a matter of minutes.
